The company IHNEN AURICH was founded in 1967 when Wilhelm Ihnen took over the company Beu and its five employees. The activities centred on locksmith work for contractors and architects in Aurich and the surrounding area.

After two years the company moved to the Mühlenwallstraße. The first big customer was Volkswagen where IHNEN AURICH manufactured 3,000 benches for the restrooms and breakfast rooms.

In 1973 the first central location was installed in the Finkenburgweg. The number of employees rose to about 100. To this time IHNEN AURICH was already manufacturing working platforms, platforms and materials-handling systems for Volkswagen. In addition IHNEN AURICH got orders from Hochtief Hannover, Mannesmann Demag Offenbach, Opel Rüsselsheim, Mercedes Benz Bremen or Eisenmann Böblingen.

The company IHNEN AURICH grew together with its orders, invested in futher plants and due to its performance, services , delivery on time and the excellent cost-performance ratio the company IHNEN AURICH made a name for themselves, nationally and internationally.

In 1996 Thomas Ihnen joined the company´s management and in 2000 his brother Willm Ihnen followed. In a consequent way they went on investing in new technology and extended e.g. the series prodution. Step by step the plant was extended and in 2009 a futher hall and an office building with the departments planning and construction were inaugurated.
