IHNEN AURICH at a festival in the Oman
A screen with a width of over 100 meters, its center interrupted by two giant video screens and an entrance gate with a width of 12 meters in between. This tremendous piece of scenery welcomed the installation team of Ihnen Aurich in Masqat, the capital of the Oman, in Decemter 2010. On the first of January 2011 the Royal Equestrian & Camel Festival took place in Masquat. All five years the sultan Quabus ibn Said celebrates his throne aniversary with this impressive show.
More than 7,000 performers beneath them more than 1,500 horses and 740 camels were involved in this show. And in the midst of the show: a work piece of IHNEN AURICH. On the instruction of the event agency P.S.I. from Hagen and the Hamburg branch of the event organisation group PRG from New York, the steel company produced two trussed arch constructions. These special lattice beams stretched from the two video towers 60 meters down to the ground. Being equipped with spotlights and devices for special effects they were gliding back and forth in a 90 degree angle and illuminated the impressive show.
The trussed arch construction consisted of eight welding main/major structural components with a length of 12 meters and a width and height of 3 meters each. The connection was realized by means of screwing. In addition to that, each construction had 3 welding minor structural components consisting of one driving element, a turnstile and a pole axle frame which arranged the half-timbered construction via moment bearings on the tower. The work had to be finalized within 6 weeks and then the ship was ready to leave direction Oman. Two fitters from IHNEN-AURICH went to the Arabic peninsula in order to realize the installation.
The stage was ready for a spectacular show.
